SLA 3D printing — precision resin models

We handle SLA print jobs through a verified technology partner — you get one point of contact, one quote and one shipment. For more demanding technical projects we recommend our core area of expertise: FDM printing.

ℹ️
How SLA orders are handled: our speciality is FDM printing (Nylon, ABS, ASA, PETG) — that is where we complete the most jobs and have the deepest experience. SLA jobs are passed to a verified technology partner while we keep full control over the quote, the deadline and the quality. Whatever the technology, you deal only with us — one form, one invoice, one shipment.

In short

SLA 3D printing cures resin with a laser – it gives smoother surfaces and higher precision than FDM, at the cost of mechanical strength and price. Drukujemy3D.pl delivers SLA through a verified technology partner, handling the quote and contact through the same channel as every other order.

  • Technology: SLA – resin cured by laser
  • Works well for: jewellery masters, presentation models, design prototypes
  • Choose FDM instead when: the part has to work mechanically, or cost matters
  • Delivery: verified technology partner, a single point of contact
  • Quote: 24 hours from sending a file

SLA printing — resin cured by laser

SLA (stereolithography) is a 3D printing technology that uses a laser to cure photopolymer resin layer by layer. It delivers the highest precision and the smoothest surfaces of all the common 3D printing technologies.

Unlike FDM, where the model is built from molten strands of thermoplastic, SLA cures liquid resin in a vat, layer by layer, using a precise UV laser beam. The result is a smooth surface with no visible layer lines and very high dimensional accuracy — often around 0.05 mm or better.

That precision comes at a price — SLA resins are usually more expensive than FDM filaments, and printed parts are more brittle and less resistant to mechanical loads than their Nylon or ABS equivalents. This is why SLA works best where aesthetics and fine detail matter more than structural strength.

When is SLA a good choice?

SLA wins wherever surface smoothness and fine detail matter — rather than mechanical strength.

💍

Jewellery models

Very fine detail and smooth surfaces, ideal for lost-wax casting.

🎨

Presentation models

Miniatures, figurines and display models ready to paint, with no visible layer lines.

📐

Design prototypes

Models for assessing a product’s form and proportions, where load testing is not required.

SLA or FDM — which to choose for your project?

For most technical and industrial projects we recommend FDM — it is cheaper, we can turn it around from one day to the next and the materials are tougher. We reserve SLA for applications where pure aesthetic detail is what counts.

Most engineering projects and spare parts are better served by FDM printing — strength and a shorter lead time make the difference. Not sure which technology suits you better? Describe the application in the quote form and we will advise.

An SLA order in 4 steps

Even though the printing itself is done by our technology partner, the entire process — from enquiry to shipping — runs through us.

01

Send the file

Send us an STL or STEP model and describe the application. If you are not sure whether SLA is the right choice — write to us and we will advise.

02

Quote

We consult our technology partner and send back a binding quote with the price and a realistic lead time.

03

Printing and quality control

After printing, the model is washed, UV-cured and quality-checked — before it is shipped.

04

Courier shipping

We ship directly to you by courier or InPost parcel locker. The VAT invoice comes from us, regardless of who physically did the printing.

Frequently asked questions — SLA printing

Do you physically print in SLA yourselves?

SLA jobs are fulfilled through a verified technology partner — our own speciality is FDM printing. Either way, you deal only with us: one form, one quote, one invoice and one shipment.

Is SLA more expensive than FDM?

Usually yes — SLA resins cost more than FDM filaments, and the process itself requires extra washing and UV curing after printing. For projects where strength matters more than surface smoothness, FDM will often be both the cheaper and the better option.

How long does an SLA quote and order take?

We normally prepare a quote within 24-48 hours — slightly longer than for FDM because of the consultation with our partner. Production usually takes 3-7 business days.

Should I choose SLA or FDM for my project?

If strength, a short lead time or lower cost matter most — we recommend FDM. If the priority is a very smooth surface and fine detail (jewellery models, figurines and the like) — SLA is the better choice. Describe the application in your enquiry and we will advise.
